Dr. Kalmus' Virtually
"Pain Free" Care Center |
We
know that many patients are apprehensive about receiving dental
care. At Dr. Kalmus'
North Babcock Dental Care, we pride ourselves on
our ability to make each patient as comfortable and relaxed as
possible while receiving care.
|
| First, we listen to your concerns. We then discuss
different methods for making you as comfortable as possible.
Together, we lay out a treatment plan that will meet your
needs. We have several options: |
|
| 1. |
Dr. Kalmus'
stereo headphonesWe have stereo headphones (Cassette and CD's) available to
help time pass quickly. |
|
| 2. |
Massage
Mats
Massage mats are also available to help you
relax and be as comfortable as possible. |

Dr. Kalmus'
Famous Painless Anesthetic
Most of our patients never know they have
received anesthetic. That's because of Dr. Kalmus' famous
"Painless Anesthetic" technique. A topical anesthetic is
applied to the tissue with a swab. This topical painlessly
numbs the spot where the doctor will administer the
anesthetic. |
|
| 4. |
Local
Anesthetic For Pain Free Care Anesthetics, such as
Lidocain, prevent pain in a specific area of your mouth during
treatment by blocking the nerves that sense or transmit pain and
numbing mouth tissues.
They cause the temporary numbness often
referred to as a "fat lip" feeling. Anesthetics may be used in
such procedures as restoring cavities, preparing teeth for crowns or
treating gum disease. |
|
| 5. |
Conscious Sedation Conscious
sedation is an easy way of using a simple oral medication (often
called "the blue pill") to relax you without the loss of
consciousness. The pill is taken an hour prior to your
appointment. You can then relax while a companion drives you
to and from our office.
Upon arrival, you will take a second blue
pill that will allow you to gently sleep through your
treatment. And best of all, most people don't remember any of
their treatment. |
|
| 6. |
Post-Treatment Comfort We want you
to be as comfortable as possible after you care. We often send
our patients home with a supply of non-narcotic analgesics to
relieve any post treatment discomfort. These include aspiring,
acetaminophen and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as
ibuprofen. |
